Public Accountant and Auditor, graduated from the Economic Sciences of San Carlos University of Guatemala in 1985, having obtained the Prize for the Best Thesis of the Year, prized given by the School of Economists, Public Accountants and Auditors and Business Administrators.
AT THE MASTER’S LEVEL
Master’s Degree in Public Accountant and International Auditing, in Galileo University, in coordination with the Guatemalan Institute of Public Accountants and Auditors.
OTHER STUDIES AND CONTINUOUS EDUCACION
Participation in local and international trainings from the following auditing firms: Ernst & Young, Deloitte & Touche y Kreston International.
Participation in congresses, seminars, symposiums, workshops, conferences, etc. given by the Guatemalan Institute of Public Accountants and Auditors, the Guatemalan Association of Managers of Guatemala, San Carlos University of Guatemala, Francisco Marroquin University, Mariano Galvez University, and Galileo University. Videoconferences coordinated by the World Bank.
Participation in courses and workshops of the taxation in Guatemala of the auditing firms previously indicated, including other firms that operate in Guatemala.
English courses in the Guatemalan American Institute.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
- In the Firm VELASCO SARAT & ASSOCIATES, S. C. – KRESTON INTERNATIONAL, as a partner of the Auditing Division, I attend the financial auditing services, internal auditing, evaluation of internal control systems and special projects in industrial businesses, banking and finance, commercial, services, projects, of international institutions, non-profit institutions, etc.
- In the local auditing firms that represent the international firms Ernst & Winny, Ernst & Young and Deloitte & Touche. As an auditing assistant to the Auditing Manager, with experience in all types of professional projects in industrial, banking and finance, commercial, of services, projects, international institutions, non-profit institutions, cooperative, etc. companies. Work related with external auditing, internal auditing, implementation and evaluation of internal controls, due diligence, accounting and fiscal organization and systematization, analysis of financial statements and special projects.
- Professor in the Social Economics Faculty in San Carlos University of Guatemala, teaching Auditing I, II, III and IV and participating in case seminars, general public exams and advisor of professional thesiss.
- Instructor of issues of international norms of financial information and of international norms of auditing in the Guatemalan Institute of Public Accountants and Auditors and in the School of Public Accountants and Auditors of Guatemala.
OTHER PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES
- Current coordinator of the International Norms of Accounting and Auditing Committee of the Guatemalan Institute of Public Accountants and Auditors.
- Coordinator of the Auditing Norms Committee of the Accounting Experts Federation and the Auditing of Mesoamerica, with its central office in San Jose, Costa Rica.
- Sub-coordinator of the Guatemalan Section Committee of the Inter-American Accounting Association.
- Member of the organizing committee of the 2nd Symposium about international standards delivered in Guatemala City, August 24-25, 2006
- Member of the organizing committee of the 1st Latin American Congress of Public Accountants and Auditors to take place in May 2008.
- Coordinator of the Accounting and Auditing Principles Commission of the Guatemalan Institute of Public Accountants and Auditors.
- Member of the Internal Auditing Commission of the Guatemalan Institute of Public Accountants and Auditors.
